Well, in a word: yes. Jess Thornton is the pen name of Jay Bowers!
Oh my gosh, the internet will be exploding this evening. I started writing under a pen name because I read somewhere that that is the best way to protect yourself, and you family and friends. So I did.
And actually- I like being Jess Thornton! He is similar to Jay, but in some ways different. More bookish, more introverted- not a quick witted, brawny man of action like Jay Bowers!
But, anyway, there you have it- just like Batman and Bruce Wayne, or Superman and Clark Kent-
