Atlantean | Kindle Vella Tue, 11 Apr 2023 22:10:39 +0000 Malwi fell to the sand, in a faint, so overwhelmed was she by the sight of a strange man before she lost consciousness; a man who was not only unnaturally large, but a man with white skin, and hair of bright red gold, along with a thick, matching beard! Her people’s men had no facial hair But most terrible of all was that he somehow was riding on top of the sea; not swimming, but riding! It had to be a god…

Book narrations by me! Sun, 02 Oct 2022 22:08:10 +0000 I have recently completed two book narrations, for two separate audiobooks:

Shout the Battle Cry of Freedom by K.M. Breakey and

Atlantean by Jay Bowers.

Neither is out yet, but this is just a heads up- soon both will be available. I will give you all the information you need, once the books are finally out and available for download. For now, just be aware that here are two audiobooks that you will want to read; they should be out really soon. And both are truly labors of love!

I also have many audiobooks available for immediate download. The thing about audiobooks is that they are truly an effortless way to consume books, especially as you are doing something else. (Like driving)! And trust me, there is nothing ‘less worthy’ about listening to a book as opposed to actually reading the words on a printed or digital page. They are just different ways to get the job done, no more and no less!

I have actually found that the audio of a book (or podcast) is often more memorable and compelling than simple visually reading. There is something about the spoken word, as there is about music as well, that gets right into your head and heart in a visceral way. The tales of Homer and other ancient bards were primarily passed on vocally, as were those of Beowulf and other early traditions.

Even Shakespeare was primarily vocally transmitted in the form of his plays, when in early England most of the populace was illiterate.

So start to download audiobooks if you have not already done so. Check out my catalog on this site to find my own ‘chantings of my inner bard’. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

My Mother was a Meadowlark! Mon, 15 Nov 2021 22:34:21 +0000

Actually, after she was a Meadowlark, she became a Three Feather, and then a Sherry Sister! No, she was not an amazing shape-shifter type from an alternate reality, she was a simple farm girl from South Dakota in the 1930’s. Kind of like little Dorothy from Kansas, although her reality was a bit colder and bleaker in terms of weather, and yet far warmer and homey in that she had sisters, and a brother too!

The Manthey Meadowlarks they were called, and they sang and played around the rural landscape back then, from churches, to barn raisings, to hoedowns, to all kinds of dances and halls! Father on tuba, drums, and many other instruments, mother on piano, the girls on trumpet, trombone, sax, and fiddle. And they ALL sang.

After father died in a tragic tractor accident on the farm, the Meadowlarks stopped… but later, the three middle girls,, Janie, Paula, and Carolyn formed a trio. First, it was the Singing Three Feathers, but eventually they decided on Carolyn’s suggestion of the Sherry Sisters, and their singing career resumed on a larger stage.’

You will be so glad you did, that you will probably also want to read or listen to the book ‘Little Carolyn’ available everywhere books or audiobooks are sold, by her son Jess Thornton…

My Mother was a Meadowlark!

The Soul of the Suburbanite Tue, 20 Apr 2021 02:26:04 +0000 Long, long ago, I was a youngster growing up in suburbia.

My parents were rural folk- my mother from a farm in South Dakota, my father from a small town in northern Wisconsin. They were both musicians, and met one another “on the road” as they said then, as they traveled the Big Band music circuit in the 1940’s.

After marrying, they settled down in Chicago, since my aunt and uncle had done so, and recommended it. Also, then my dad could work his day job in an office, and then play in bands by night. It was perfect for them! And, as a newly born infant, I loved it.

After I cried and crawled around enough, they decided to move to a nearby suburb, especially as my little brother was going to be born soon. They bought a ranch house in a close, rapidly expanding suburb, and so it began…

Soon, there were 5 of us! One bathroom, 2 bedroom ranch house. By the time I was in fourth grade, my dad decided we should move to another suburb- one that was established, and bought a big, double-lot house there. There was plenty of room then, until they had three more children.

We all did fine there. But somehow, I never ‘bought in to’ suburbia. That it was perfect, the ultimate blend of city and country- it wasn’t to me, not at all. When we visited relatives in rural South Dakota or Wisconsin, everything seemed to make sense to me. The men had real jobs, like teachers, or mailmen, or pharmacists. Back in the suburbs, men just carried briefcases around, and wore little hats to work. What they did was- who knew? All that I knew ultimately that, it was all fake work.

It wasn’t like my butcher uncle in Wisconsin, or the grain farmer in South Dakota.

It was fake. Made up work. Suburban work.

I resolved to not live my life this way! While my brother would draw pictures in school of a man with a briefcase being the ideal man, I did not. I drew men with spears, men with chainsaws, and men driving tractors! Men who did real work.

And as time went on, I felt more and more out of step with suburbia. I realized that those who dwelt there did not even intend to stay there, to invest themselves within their towns as my more rural relatives had for their entire lives. No, their ideal, as I ascertained, was to make a ton of money, sell their hugely appreciated houses, and (in most cases, after getting divorced), moving away to Arizona or Aruba, avoiding their offspring as much as possible, and especially those noisy and disruptive grandkids!

I realized that Suburbia had no Soul.

I moved to rural, MAGA America, in Wisconsin, since I am of German descent, and I fit in perfectly. I visited the suburbs next to the big city, but only because I had to, since my relatives were there. I quickly realized that while racial divisions were paramount around big cities, in rural America they mean nothing. Only when they are imported from city nonsense agendas do they even appear, and they shouldn’t even then, but certain politicians and other rabble rousers love to push such crap.

The bottom line that, in rural mid-America, not only is racism non-existent, it is totally absent. Only in big cities does racism exist, and this is because the democrats and the government there encourage it to expand their power. Without big city government and the democrat race-hustling machine: there is no racism. None at all.

So, this is when I realized that the Suburbs have no Soul. The suburbs only thrive because, in cities, we are forced to integrate with blacks. Ironically, the suburbanites identify totally with the ‘inner city blacks’ and other minorities, since the New York Times and other propaganda sources insist that they must. But, (here is the liberal loophole), in suburbs clustered about the city, they can have their own school districts!

And so it was that, less than 15 miles from the city of Chicago, suburban school districts thrived, as did property values, as Liberal espousing, Democrat loving suburbanites packed the school systems of what were small suburbs, turning them into gargantuan enclaves similar to Hogwarts!

And the whole time, these suburban schools, and the towns and inhabitants within, screamed endlessly about how bad racism is, and how evil segregation was, both in the old South and in South Africa. It made them all so angry, that they voted Democrat more and more, since the inner city just got worse and worse, and it was all our fault! They all felt so fashionable…

And their property values kept rising, as they had such lily white schools.

So their Liberal screams of outrage rose louder and louder!

But, their screams sounded more and more to me like: HYPOCRISY.

Because, of course- they could move back into the city, closer to their work, and let their own children go to school with those inner city blacks they championed! Those same schools where literacy was non-existent, where crime was so rampant and obscene that mere civilization itself could not exist alongside it!

But of course, they would not. It was so much easier to shout about inequality, when it had no effect on your life, or the life of your children, whatsoever. But to still- never shut up about it!

While the likes of Barack Obama, and most other members of the Liberal Congress send their children to Private, Religious schools like Sidwell Friends , which is a private, Quaker, very expensive school- the rest of us are supposed to rely on governmental public education- which stopped working once desegregation began! It really did, but no one can admit it. Ever!

So- the suburbs and the cities are a mess. (But you knew that, at least a little)

But the reason why is that the Soul of the Suburbanite, especially the Suburbanite woman, but both man and woman are guilty:

Is that they are living a LIE!

They both know that the solution is in the rural countryside. Only in the rural countryside is true egalitarianism and justice to be found. In a rural landscape, if blacks cause most of the crime, it will be reported, and they will be imprisoned.

If in a rural school, most disruption is caused by blacks, or any other group, it will be so identified, and STOPPED. Race is nothing but an identifier.

The Soul of the Suburbanite will be crushed by this, as common sense can once again regain control!
